Harry Potter Weekend ~ Through The Eyes Of A 10 Year Old

Picture

The Best Weekend Ever

Heat rose on my face as I stepped into Diagon Alley. I saw the dragon on top of Gringotts Bank. Me and my family walked over to Gringotts and put our bags in the lockers. Then, we hopped on line for Escape from Gringotts and saw the inside of the amazing bank. There are crystals on the ceiling and I got to see the goblins. They were so life like. As we walked into a separate room, to my surprise there was a short movie. The movie shows you how Bill Weasley comes on the trip your about to take in Gringotts.

Then we walked out and the picture of the goblin told us the safety rules. After that, we got onto the elevator. When you get out you get your goggles (3D glasses). The thing I don’t get is why do you go down an elevator just to walk up two more flights of stairs. I don’t get it.

Then we were told what row to go to. As we went to our assigned row I thought, how cool is this! You know, it’s really just amazing. Then the gates opened. We boarded the vehicle. We took off as soon as everyone was fastened in their seats. Bellatrix Lestrange asked us questions and then whipped us with her wand and we were off. Straight down. Then curve. We see the screen again, we spin around two times. It’s so cool.

Then the guards of medal armor show up. Harry, Hermione, Ron and, a goblin show up. The guards then fall taking the track down with them. Bill Weasley saves us. I’m going to stop there. I don’t want to spoil the whole thing. We got off the ride LOVING IT and wanting more. Some of my family now want to watch the movies.

We explored Diagon Alley a little more we found the dark and gloomy side which is devoted to the Dark Arts. Next up we headed to Ollivanders Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC to pick-up some wands. I opted for the collector’s wand of Hermione Granger to add to my collection, I already have the Harry Potter wand. My sister decided to get the interactive wand of Ginny Weasley. This wand allows you to practice learning spells at certain spots throughout Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. We did all the wand spots there are wizards to help you learn your craft. There’s a spot where you can trade your money and get gringott coins. You can buy wands with the money or just keep it. It’s so freaking cool to experience it all.

We ate breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron. It was so good. There are no chocolate chip pancakes there, but you can try Butter-Beer and pumpkin juice. The butter-beer is the best frozen, hot/warm is so disgusting. Don’t do it. Cold is good, too. My dad prefers cold. It reminds him of an egg-cream...something he had when he was little.

Chugga, Chugga, Choo-Choo...the Hogwarts Express pulls into the station. I was so excited to ride it. Make sure you have a park to park ticket so you can ride. If you don’t, better luck next time. The train line is so cool to walk through. You can run through the wall just like in the movie.
We board the train and goto cart G. G as in Gobblin, they would say. It’s so amazing to sit next to the window. You have to ride the train two times in order to see both movies. My family rode it three times. When we approached Hogwarts we met four nice ladies who were dressed up as the Pygmy puffs. Me and Hailey, my sister got to hold one, they let us pose for a picture with them. It was so nice.
We then headed to Hogwarts to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. You first see Hermione, doing a spell to make us fly. Four people per cart. I don’t want to say anything about this ride. It’s too good to spoil. Across the way is Flight of the Hippogriff. My sister loved that one. She made me go on it like 10 times.
Well… maybe not 10, but, it sure felt like 10. It was probably three or four. Anyway, after we did that we went into shops and explores Hogsmeade in detail. Last year they closed the Dueling Dragons Roller Coaster to make way for a new Harry Potter themed ride that is coming 2019 - I can’t wait to go back for that. They made it so you can see through the cracks of the wood. I found one, it’s where the two boards meet. You can’t really see anything but, I saw a bit. Maybe, when you go there, it will be done and you could ride it. If you do, tell me about it in the comments.

When we were in Diagon Alley, we got to meet the Knight Bus driver and, the shrunken head. They were so nice. I was in a Gryffindor scarf and my sister, Hailey, said that she was from house Minion. They said, “Are you a house-elf?” My sister was so confused about what they were talking about. Anyway, she still doesn’t understand it even though we explained it to her. Back over at Hogwarts, the show was about to start.
uIt’s so cool. Right?

I think you should talk to your parents about planning a trip to Universal Orlando Studios Florida: Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios.
Things you might also want to know...well your parents might want to know.
  • Lockers are located at the front of the park these are good for things you don’t want to carry all day like jackets
  • If you do not decide to rent a locker, there are lockers for each ride that can’t fit your bag there a lot of rides that don’t allow any bags, hats or other loose items
  • If you stay on property you get an earlier start on the day to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - this is great for getting on the popular rides or exploring the areas in detail without a crowd
  • You need to have a park-to-park to ride the Hogwarts express.
  • If you or your kid is into Harry Potter make sure to go down during Harry Potter weekend and, buy the special package
I hope this has helped you think about taking a trip to Universal Studios Orlando, have a fun time planning your trip. Let me know what you think by sharing your thoughts in the comments.
