Why I Love The Muppet Show 2015

Picture
Scrolling through my social network feeds tonight shortly after watching The Muppet Show Season Premiere, all posts had one thing in common, very unhappy parents. Moms and dads alike all over America popped their popcorn and snuggled in with their kiddies in preparation for a new generation of TMS lovers. Most were surprised to find out this was not the show they remembered and were utterly disappointed that this was obviously not a show for children. Me however, I LOVED IT and let me tell you why. Unlike most grown women my age, I am not interested in reading about those different Shades of Grey or watching about Mikes Magic, I am about all things Disney, vintage toys, action figures and things your average 10 year old would like. So the fact that I love such childish things but also a forty year old women makes this show everything I would want it to be!
I thought of tonights show as the Muppets meet The Office. I loved the filmography of it and the dry adult humor was darn right brilliant. The show still had its common core core idea of The Muppets preparing for the nights episode ending with a popular band (this week being Imagine Dragons) performing. The only thing I can honestly say I am currently disappointed about is the fact that Miss Piggy and Kermit are not dating! What are your thoughts, were you disappointed or were you thrilled like me?

Minnie Mouse Fall Wreath

Picture
Picture
Two of my favorite things are Fall and Disney, put them together and that means I just had to make a Minnie Mouse Fall wreath! This wreath is not only super easy, it also was very inexpensive to make. The total cost of the wreath was $9.00 and I was able to purchase all of the supplies at our local Dollar Tree. Below you will find easy step by step instructions on how to create a Mickey or Minnie Mouse Fall wreath.
Picture
1. The supplies you will need found pictured above are the face, ears, leaves, pumpkins, birds (or other Fall accessories) and two paper clips straitened out (you will use these to attach the ears) I found all of these supplies in the art and home section of our local dollar store.

2. Start attaching leaves into the ear pieces until the ears are completely full.

3. Insert straightened paper clips into face portion of wreath and then attach the ears.

4. Attach leaves into face portion until wreath looks full, add any of the Fall accessories you also purchased. Words of wisdom if you are purchasing materials from the dollar store work with everything with extra care because the base of the wreath can be delicate and can break easily. I added a Minnie Mouse bow that I already had to give it an extra touch of "Disney".

6 Clever Ways To Reply To That Not-So Disney Friend

At one time or another we have all run into that one person who has to grill us on our love for all things Disney, including our Disney vacations. For those of you who seem to get tongue tied with the appropriate answers, here is a great list of some replies you can use next time someone just doesn't get it.

  1. "Your going to Walt Disney World again?" reply ~ "Why Yes, can you believe it has been six long months since I have been there? Crazy, right?"
  2. "Aren't you to old to love Disney so much?" reply ~ "That's the real trouble with the world. To many people grow up." (Walt Disney Quote)
  3. "Don't you want to travel around the world?" reply ~ "I do, every time I visit WDW I stop by Canada, United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, China, Norway, and Mexico!"
  4. "I hate theme park food, I would never get the dining plan" reply ~ "Clearly you have never enjoyed a Dole Whip!"
  5. "I would never take a Disney Cruise, I do not want to be stuck on the ship with all of those kids" reply ~ "Thanks, more room for me in the Adults Only pool while I am sailing."
  6. "I always run out of the parks before the fireworks and I have the monorail to myself" reply ~ "How utterly sad, I always stay and watch in amazement at the beautiful display while watching my families smile, I reminisce about our years here and the memories we have made and then I ride the monorail with 200 of my closest friends"

Eating on a tight budget in Walt Disney World

Traveling to Walt Disney World in the near future without the Disney Dining Plan? There are some great ways to save you some extra money while visiting. Did you know that guests are actually allowed to bring food items into the parks such as snacks or foods that do not require heating? Prepared foods which don't require heating are welcomed since there are no means for visitors to heat food inside the park. The Disney website mentions "snacks or foods that do not require heating" as carry-ins that are allowed in the parks. Pack your food in a small soft sided cooler because Walt Disney World doesn't allow large hard-shelled coolers inside its parks. No coolers bigger than 24 inches by 15 inches by 18 inches are allowed which makes sense because the size of the largest lockers at Walt Disney World are close to the same measurements. This way you can store your days worth of food in a locker so you are not weighed down by it. Make sure to keep waters and juice with you while your food is stored away. You can also always ask for water from the tap as well as ice for free anywhere in the park. Water, juice and soft drinks can be expensive to purchase. Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park doesn't allow coolers at all, unless you need one specifically for medical purposes. Animal Kingdom also prohibits juice boxes in the park, because the plastic straw wrappers on such drinks pose a hazard to the animals. There are some wonderful places to 'Pop a Squat' while eating in all of the parks. Kids will never know the difference of what they are missing dining wise. Tell them they are having an extra special "Disney Picnic". How lucky they will feel to actually picnic in Disney!
When looking to save money on food when dining or eating outside of the parks there are also some great ideas to save additional damage to your wallet. If you are staying in an All Star Resorts you can take advantage of their Large Cheese Pizza for only $13.99 at the food court including 8 large slices which is sure to feed a family of 4. For those of you staying at any WDW resort on property, each and every food court has a microwave and toaster oven available to use making it super easy to toast your bagels you can bring from home (and most food courts even have cream cheese and jams out) hot water available to use for your oatmeal, and a microwave for your popcorn! At night they also have condiments out along with lettuce, tomato, and onion which is a great addition to your sandwiches (pack a cooler for your room if you are driving in). There are also some great affordable buffets outside of WDW such as Golden Corral, which can be a great option if you have a car on property with you.
