Road Trips To Orlando Can Be Fun

Picture
Why do I LOVE road trips to Orlando? I'm a New Orleans girl but my heart is always in Walt Disney World! Flying can be costly for my family of five so in order to visit the mouse a couple times a year , we road trip! I pack snacks galore, charge the iPads and bring some dvd's for our car tv. My kids actually prefer driving for vacation because there can be such hastle at the airports with flight delays, waiting to board the plane and so on. Hey, sometimes its quicker to drive! We can move at our own pace and leave at our leisure. We typically leave around 6 a.m. while the kids are still sleepy , so that's about three hours of silence. We typically break after about 5 hours to eat lunch , stretch our legs and use the restroom. After another five hours, we are entering the MAGIC! We may have another bath room break in between lunch and arriving in Orlando but it's ten minutes tops at an interstate rest area! We are pulling up at our Disney resort around 5 p.m.! Its perfect because our room is ready to go when we arrive. We usually just unpack then head over to the food court for dinner. That night we take it easy, maybe swim at the pool or enjoy a Movie Under The Stars (most resorts have a movie night) . Our last trip , we stayed at the Yacht Club so we walked over to the Boardwalk for pizza and did a cute bike ride around the resorts. Another reason I love staying at some of the deluxe Disney properties, you can walk to other resorts or even parks for just a couple hours of fun! We like to hit the hay early on the first night so that we can wake up early the next morning and go to Magic Kingdom early . We always do our first full day in Magic Kingdom, it's our tradition but all the parks are SUPER fun. If you have a Disney budget for a family of four or more, use that money saved from driving on a deluxe hotel. I love a nice long week in Disney , with chill time at the resorts. Some of my favorite memories are swimming at the pool and playing all sorts of games and let me tell you the pools at the deluxe resorts are incredible . I give it 5 stars for road trips !!!!

Our Stay At Disney's Paradise Pier with A Club Level Room

Picture
This week we enjoyed a wonderful stay at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel with access to their Club Level Lounge. This hotel celebrates the old time California beachfront boardwalks era providing a feeling like you have taken a step back in time to the early 1920s. We found their front desk cast members to be extremely helpful and friendly, and their lobby welcoming with a hidden scent of sunscreen.

We chose this specific hotel because of the convenient walking distance between the parks and Downtown Disney shopping area along with an affordable price tag. They also have a great character breakfast with Donald Duck and friends at the Seaside Breakfast at Disney’s PCH Grill along with a place to grab a quick bite or cocktail at the Surfside Lounge right next to the hotel lobby check in.

We checked in with a Standard View Club Level room which was great for the four of us. It had two queen beds along with a queen size sleeper sofa that was easy to convert and very comfy. We had a Keurig coffee maker that was always full of at least 8 pods daily along with a fridge, a safe and all the normal hotel amenities you typically have. They left a new toothbrush and shaving kit everyday along with 2 large Mickey and Minnie cake pops, 2 water bottles and Ghirardelli Chocolates nightly on our pillows during turn down.

Paradise Pier Club-level guests are invited to enjoy the Beach Comber Club lounge, which is located on the second floor. You may think it would be stuffy or pretentious when you hear Club or Concierge Level but it is just the contrary. The Beach Comber Club has a relaxing and inviting vibe, and the lounge is an ideal spot to grab breakfast before heading to the parks, have pool time snacks, or enjoy a complimentary wine/beer when returning after a long day .

The Beach Comber Club is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and provides guests with the following complimentary offerings:
  • Continental Breakfast (6:30-10 a.m.) Continental breakfast bar with an assortment of fresh pastries, fruit, cereal and morning beverages.
  • Snacks (10 a.m. 5 p.m.)  A variety of grab-and-go snacks, fresh fruit and beverages.
  • A Moment in Paradise (5-7 p.m.) Delightful appetizers with a selection of wine, beer and other drinks.
  • Sweet Endings (7-8 p.m.) Tempting sweets and after-dinner beverages.

The hotel has a fun pool area with an exciting slide that is great for kids of all ages. It was cold and rainy during our stay so we did not indulge in swimming however they did something neat in place of their Magical Night At The Movies by the pool, during the rain they housed in indoor Night At The Movies in one of their conference rooms. Another great benefit of this hotel is their Fireworks Viewing Deck on the same pool level area. They pump in the music and you can enjoy the show without the crowds.

We feel this hotel is a great choice for families looking to stay on property during their visit to the Disneyland Resort area. With the added Club Level upgrade you can also enjoy the convenience of enjoying your breakfast before you head out for a busy day or for coming back to enjoy snacks when you need a break.
