Many people do not know about this little hidden gem just 10 minutes away from Washington D.C. Most of the time when I talk about the area they confuse it with the Baltimore Harbor, however it is over an hour away from the Baltimore area and has so much more to offer! National Harbor is home to more than 40 dining spots as well as more than 160 retailers all located in a small confined radius, where you can walk anywhere you need to. What I really love about visiting this area is after we park the car on Friday we do not need to get back into it again until we leave on Sunday. If we want to visit the nearby MGM Casino or the Tanger Outlets we can utilize the Gaylords complimentary shuttle or if we want to visit Old Town Alexandria or Washington D.C. we can jump on the water taxi right at our resort! This area is just super easy to enjoy a stress free getaway. Starstuff Travel has been hosting our holiday weekends in this festive area now for two years. Our getaway includes a stay at the breathtaking Gaylord National Harbor Resort. The Gaylord is home to a 19-story glass atrium overlooking the river that presents a beautiful holiday light show many times per day as well as their signature attraction ICE! which comes to life during the winter season. This year we were able to watch Charlie Brown rediscover the meaning of Christmas as the beloved story unfolds through two million pounds of ice sculptures and displays. They give you heavy blue parkas to wear as you enter this chilly amazing display. With our special group package we were able to enter the ICE! attraction as many times as we wanted all weekend long which really assisted us with getting the most out of our visit. Our weekend package also came with entrance to the Gaylords breakfast buffet in the Pienza Marketplace for both Saturday and Sunday. The day of check out we decided to upgrade our breakfast to the character buffet so we could spend time with all of the Peanuts gang. This interactive character breakfast includes Peanuts-themed dishes, such as Charlie Brown’s Build-Your-Own-French-Toast Station with Snoopy’s Maple Syrup, Pig Pen’s Dirty Hash Browns, Lucy’s Flap Jacks and Woodstock’s Granola. There was an official MC hosting the breakfast that talked, sang and walked around chatting with everyone while the characters mingled. I will say, there was ample time with the characters during breakfast but we did enjoy the food at the larger buffet next door the day before a little better. Something exclusive for our Starstuff Travel guests is the magical private Santa party that the National Harbor Tourism Board hosts for us. Each year they hold a fun gathering for our guests that includes hot cocoa, holiday treats, crafts /activities and the most important thing of all.....a visit from Santa! You can not attend this event without being part of our group so it definitely is an added bonus. This year we were lucky enough to have Joe Tresh Photography in attendance to snap all of our photos! There is so much more to experience during our fun weekend. Here is a video that offers a little sneak peak into spending sometime with us. As you can see our Starstuff Travel Holiday Weekend is full of excitement and wonder but the National Harbor area is fun all year round. Whether you would like to attend our weekend next year or want us to help you plan a visit to the Harbor before than please let us know how we can help you visit this amazing area! We would like to thank the National Harbor Tourism Board for being wonderful partners with our agency, to learn more about the area visit them here at Nationalharbor.com. We would also like to thank Joe Tresh Photography for taking all of the fun pictures posted above from our time at the private Santa party. Please visit his website tresh.com for more information.
